Game Boy Games on Switch | Full List, Pokemon & What’s Next

The Nintendo Switch Online subscription just keeps getting better as both Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games are added to the service. Nintendo has looked to its previous handhelds to make its current one as good as possible. Nothing beats a little nostalgia, right?

After the Nintendo Direct presentation on February 8th, Game Boy games on Switch were in the shadow of fans. Finally, Big N listened and added the classic console to its ever-growing Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscriptions.

When playing Game Boy games on the Switch, you can choose between Game Boy, Pocket, and Color screen filters for an authentic experience. For both the Game Boy and GBA games that allow it, you can also play online multiplayer with players on your friends list.

Read below for the full list of Game Boy games on Switch, the GBA games you can play, what other games will be released later, and how to play them all.

How to Play Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Games on Switch

In order to play Game Boy games on Switch, you must be an active Nintendo Switch Online subscriber. You can only play GBA games on Switch if you are an active subscriber to the more expensive Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.

This means you need to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online and/or the expansion pack if you haven’t already.

Like other classic games on the Switch, you don’t download individual titles. Just go to the Switch eShop and find the Game Boy and GBA Console download file. Once you find them, you can just install them. You should also be able to do this from the Go online tab in the home menu.
