Football Queensland announces the TAFE at Schools program in partnership with TAFE Queensland

Football Queensland is pleased to announce a football centered TAFE at Schools program in partnership with TAFE Queensland.
The program is designed to equip aspiring football players with crucial tools for success in pursuing coaching opportunities inside and outside the football arena, with the first cohort starting in the final weeks in line with Term 1 of 2023 as part of the TAFE Queensland’s Academy of Sport.
“The TAFE at Schools program is just one of the ways Football Queensland is delivering on our commitment to strengthening pathways for improved player outcomes and developing higher standards for improved quality on and off the field,” said Robert Cavallucci, CEO of FQ.
“This program offers participants a professional pathway into football coaching, development and management within community level sports clubs and organizations across the Australian sports industry.
“Students will have a unique opportunity to learn and develop in the home of football in Queensland, while Football Queensland also offers access to football-specific fundamental coaching education through the TAFE at Schools programme.”
TAFE Queensland General Manager Brent Kinnane said the introduction of a football-specific qualification is important for the professionalism of the sport ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
“The agreement with Football Queensland allows our students to work alongside professional football coaches while pursuing a coaching qualification,” Mr Kinnane said.
“The introduction of a football-focused qualification that enables our students to acquire the specific skills they need to meet the demands of the industry is a turning point at this important time in our region’s history,” continued Mr Kinnane .
“This will allow students to break into and work in professional football to ensure football in Queensland can attract the best players and managers as we go for gold later this year and into the decade to come.”
Students selected for the program will study at TAFE Queensland’s South Bank campus and at Football Queensland’s Meakin Park headquarters, with the first batch of students currently completing the programme.
