Fire breaks out in the film studio

A fire broke out at a film studio in the Tollygunje area on Sunday morning, but there were no reports of casualties, officials said.

A fire official said three firefighters rushed to the NT 1 studio site to control the fire, which broke out around 6 a.m.

“The fire was discovered around 6am in a pit on the studio premises, but it did not spread to the rotary floors and there was no one in the pit at the time. Three fire engines rushed to the scene and the flames were contained and then extinguished over the next three hours. It hasn’t spread,” the official said.

He said the cooling process in some fire spots is currently underway, but the fire has been extinguished.

There were no reports of casualties in the fire.

The cause of the fire is being investigated and the possibility of a short circuit cannot be ruled out, the official said.

The incident caused panic in the congested area with nearby neighborhoods, but locals joined firefighters to bring the situation under control. The extent of the damage was being determined, but the possibility that the fire would affect the shooting schedule was not great, a film industry source said.
