Elliptic Labs (OSE: ELABS), a global AI software company and the world leader in AI Virtual Smart Sensors™, has signed its first Chromebook proof-of-concept agreement with an existing PC/laptop customer. This agreement covers the implementation of Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Human Presence Sensor™ for human presence detection for potential deployment on the PC/Laptop customer’s future Chromebook laptops, tablets and PCs. Chromebooks run Google’s ChromeOS as the operating system instead of the Microsoft Windows operating system. According to a February 2022 Statista report, Chromebooks are expected to make up 12.5% of all laptops shipped that year.
“The extension of our AI Virtual Human Presence Sensor to Chromebooks is a great opportunity for Elliptic Labs,” said Laila Danielsen, CEO of Elliptic Labs. “Chromebooks represent a sizeable segment of the laptop market and this project demonstrates that the AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform is the natural choice for our PC customers across their product portfolio, from high-end devices to more affordable essential devices . We look forward to continuing our mission to make all devices greener, smarter and people-friendly.”

Elliptic Labs AI Virtual Human Presence Sensor
Elliptic Labs AI Virtual Human Presence Sensor detects when a user is in front of a PC/laptop system. This allows the device to hibernate when a user is absent, saving battery life and power and protecting the device from unauthorized access. Human presence detection is emerging as a core capability in the PC/laptop industry, but is currently only deployed in high-end devices due to the cost, risk, and design limitations associated with a dedicated hardware occupancy sensor. Elliptic Labs’ software-only AI Virtual Human Presence Sensor provides robust presence detection that enables OEMs to easily and cost-effectively integrate human presence detection into a wide variety of devices.
