Edgerunners shares first stills ahead of Netflix event

Cyberpunk 2077 has brought one of the most colorful gaming universes to life, and now Netflix is a game to expand the world a little further. It wasn’t long ago that fans learned it Cyberpunk: Edgerunner was in the works and planned to add an original story to the hit video game title. And now, fans got their first look at the anime ahead of Netflix’s Geeked Week in June.
The look came courtesy of Netflix today, as the streaming service shared a promo for its Geeked Week celebrations. There, the role shone in the limelight Cyberpunk: Edgerunnerand its colorful aesthetic suits Studio Trigger perfectly.

As you can see above, the stills don’t give much away, but we get a clear sense of what’s to come. One still shows a motorbike cruising through a high-tech city, while another follows two humans gazing over Earth from space. Studio Trigger’s cell shading animation is fully visible in these shots, and they look great in motion. As you can imagine, fans are eagerly awaiting a full trailer for the anime.

“Cyberpunk: Edgerunner tells a 10-episode standalone story about a street kid trying to survive in a future city obsessed with technology and body modification. With everything to lose, he decides to stay alive by becoming an Edgerunner – a lawless mercenary also known as a cyberpunk.
Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will direct the series alongside assistant director Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare), creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designers Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal ) and Yuto Kaneko (Little Witch Academia), as well as the adapted screenplay by Yoshiki Usa (SSSS.GRIDMAN, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare). The original score is composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).”
