Eastern Florida State College Women’s Tennis Ranked 10th overall in the NJCAA National Tournament

Hantzis won the consolation bracket title at No. 2 in singles

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis team had some champions in the consolation round at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

Sophomore Simona Karlsson Hantzis won the consolation title at No. 2 in singles, defeating Raquel Rodrigues of eastern Arizona 8-1 for the title.

After losing the game in the first round, Karlsson won three straight games to claim the win. Karlsson won all three games in the consolation round 8-1.

Doubles team No. 2, consisting of Gloria Barcaro and Emma Sanchez, also clinched a title in the consolation round on Tuesday when the duo defeated Makenna Schaffner and Iowa Central’s Emma Semery 8-1 in the finals. The duo won four straight games to earn the consolation victory.

In the championship round, Luisa Renovales lost to No. 6 seeded Camila Neyra of Cowley College in the semifinals of the No. 6 singles 6-4, 6-4.

Barcaro will play for the No. 3 singles consolation title after beating Coastal Alabama’s Taji Williams 8-2 in Tuesday’s semifinals. Barcaro plays ABAC No. 5 Yazmin Barrios on Wednesday morning at 8:00 CET

Eastern Florida State College finishes 10th overall in the national tournament.
