Dollars for Scholars Golf Tournament Seeks Sponsors | News, Sports, Jobs

A golf tournament aimed at helping local students advance their educational careers is fast approaching and organizers are looking for sponsors.

The third yearbook “Dollars for Scholars” Cape Coral Mayor’s Scholarship Golf Classic starts Friday, April 28th at Palmetto Pine County Club.

Proceeds from the event go directly to providing scholarships to Cape Coral high school students to help them meet the financial burden of secondary education.

“This event has become a significant fundraiser for the scholarship fund,” said the president of the Cape Coral Mayor’s Scholarship Fund, Joanne Hayden. “Last year we raised over $20,000 which helped us fund 10 four-year scholarships and also support engineering students.”

The classic has an 8:30 a.m. start time, with groups of up to four people eligible to enter ($125 per player; $500 per team).

Sponsorship opportunities are available in a wide range from drink cart sponsors, hole sponsors, swag sponsors and more, or can be tailored to a donor’s request.

“Sponsorship of an event gives a company visibility and recognition and the opportunity to participate with others in a fun atmosphere.” said Hayden. “Sponsors are posted throughout the golf course and have the opportunity to get involved in creative ways by sponsoring games or donating raffle prizes.”

The Cape Coral Mayor’s Scholarship Program grants are awarded to students who are residents of Cape Coral and attend secondary school or homeschool. The awards are not based solely on financial necessity or grade point average, but on the entire spectrum of application questions. Leadership, community involvement and service are also important factors.

Hayden added that the day is a great opportunity to meet the Links while promoting the future of tomorrow.

“The Golf Classic is a great day on a beautiful golf course”, She said. “We are planning additional games and opportunities to add fun competition to the event. Knowing your participation helps a Cape Coral student educate themselves and lends important purpose to that challenging tee shot or celebration of a great putt.”
