DJ Uiagalelei predicts a ‘great game’ between Clemson and South Carolina

After beating Tennessee 63-38 last weekend, the South Carolina Gamecocks 7-4 (4-4 SEC) will look to topple a top-five team again when they beat No. 7 Clemson with 10: 1 (8:0) ACC). Tigers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei predicts a great game against a South Carolina team brimming with confidence. The Gamecocks’ victory over Tennessee brought the Volunteers’ College Football Playoff efforts to an abrupt end. South Carolina has won two of their last three games.

“I think South Carolina always believed they could win every single game,” Uiagalelei said Monday. “I think that’s the kind of program they are. That’s the kind of players they have there. kind of coaching staff they have there. And it’s going to be a great game for us. South Carolina is a great team. great offensive. For us we must have a great training week. To be able to be locked in, to be ready for this game. It’s going to be a great game.

“I think Coach Swinney, he always said it – it’s its own game, it’s its own season. One game mentality. It’s a huge game, this is South Carolina, it’s our rival right here,” Uiagelelei said. “And I know it means a lot to a lot of people here in South Carolina, a lot of Clemson fans. It means a lot to me, it means a lot to the team. We have to have our best week this week, do our best, keep working, keep grinding. Go to the movie room, practice great. Just treat it the same way you do every other week. But it definitely means a lot to us.”

All eyes will be on the quarterback duel when the two rivals take the field on Saturday. South Carolina boasts Spencer Rattlerwho posted a six-through-air feat against Tennessee while Clemson’s offense features Uiagalelei, the Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer believes to have similarities with Rattler.

“People criticize DJ but he’s only won 10 games. I think they had a bad night at Notre Dame, but if I’m not wrong they average 30 plus points per game.” said Beamer. “You’re one of the top 25 offenses in the country right now I think. I’m sure he would tell you there are things he can do better too. He’s a guy, I don’t know him, but just seeing him on TV and seeing interviews, he stays very balanced, not going too high or too low. This is Spencer. He has great confidence in his abilities. This is Spencer. They’ve both had really good games. Spencer was fantastic. He was fantastic on the field on Saturday night. Spencer has been amazing off the field since the day he got here. I would imagine it’s the same for DJ and the way he’s in their program as well.
