After last week’s dark and serious movies and shows, this week is about to get lighter and more entertaining for all OTT fans. So if your genre is fun and entertainment, there’s a lot to look forward to. And the thriller seekers out there needn’t be disappointed either, because a special film awaits you. The biggest highlight of the week is Thiruchitrabalam, one of the biggest hits of the year. The film also stars fan favorite Dhanush. We also have the all-female thriller Hush Hush, which also marks Juhi Chawla’s entry into the OTT foray. The second season of Jamtara also starts this week. Finally, two low-budget fun films will also be released this weekend, Babli Bouncer and Atithi Bhooto Bhava. So let’s take a closer look at these OTT releases this week.
Thiruchitrabalam on Sun NXT
This romantic comedy is one of the biggest hits of the year. Whether that’s because of Dhanush or because the film is a slice of life that really develops the characters through life’s little incidents is anyone’s guess. If you are looking for something to get warm feelings at the end, this is the movie you should watch. Apart from Dhanush, the film casts Raashi Khanna, Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Prakash Raj and others.
If you needed three reasons to watch Hush Hush, here are them. It’s a thriller disguised as a social commentary. It’s a seven-episode miniseries, which means you can easily finish it over the weekend. And it’s an all-female cast with Juhi Chawla at the helm. And that’s all you need to know. Try this show and you will be pleasantly surprised. The web series stars Juhi Chawla, Soha Ali Khan, Shahana Goswami, Kritika Kamra, Karishma Tanna and Ayesha Jhulka.
Jamtara Season 2 on Netflix
The show has done a lot to highlight the problem of phishing and cybercrime in India and the second season will do the same. The show focuses on fraudulent SMS, WhatsApp messages and emails promising lucrative things to steal people’s financial and personal information. Last but not least, watch it for digital awareness. Those who watched the first season will see Sunny and Gudiya reprising their roles. The show casts Sparsh Shrivastav, Anshumaan Pushkar, Monika Panwar, Amit Sial, Ravi Chahal and others.
Babli bouncer on Disney+ Hotstar
Madhur Bhandarkar is back with an interesting film about a bouncer from a village famous for making bouncers. The premise is interesting enough to draw you in, but it’s the story and execution that will keep you hooked for the long run. The film is a lighthearted take on life and should leave you entertained and happy. The cast includes Tamannaah Bhatia, Saurabh Shukla, Abhishek Bajaj, Sahil Vaid and others.
Atithi Bhooto Bhava on Zee5
The final pick of the week is a ghost comedy. While it may seem that the genre has been beaten to death and has nothing new to offer, the ghost in this film is not the plot but a plot device, which makes it interesting. How does a ghost change the mind of a comedian who takes everything and everyone in his life for granted. That is the question the film will answer. Jackie Shroff also stars as a ghost, which in itself is a huge bonus. The movie stars Pratik Gandhi, Sharmin Segal, Jackie Shroff, Divinaa Thackur, Simran Sharma and others.
