Atom Smasher is featured in a new promo for Adam Smasher. Black Adam celebrates National Punch Day.
Shared on DC’s official TikTok account on Tuesday, September 20th Black Adam Promo sees Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) smash the eponymous anti-hero (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) into the earth’s crust. However, the size-changing member of the Justice Society of America is immediately remorseful when a virtual narrator explains that “National Punch Day” actually refers to the drink and not punching someone with a closed fist.
Albert Rothstein/Nuklon was created by Roy Thomas, Jerry Ordway and Mike Machlan and was first published in 1983 All Star Squadron #25, with the superhero being renamed Atom Smasher in 1996 rich come #2. As a member of the JSA, Atom Smasher forged a rivalry with fellow Black Adam, as the former Nuklon refused to believe that the misguided wizard champion Shazam had actually reformed.
Of course, Centineo isn’t the first person to portray Atom Smasher in live action. A villainous variant of the character, originating from the Earth-2 reality, previously appeared in The CW’s Season 2 premiere The Lightning in 2015. This version of Atom Smasher was portrayed by actor and WWE Superstar Adam Copeland, perhaps better known by his ring name Edge.
