“Days of Our Lives”: Bo, Hope Return – Peter Reckell, Kristian Alfonso

One of the most popular couples of the day is finally back where it belongs, even if they’re not technically a “couple” at the moment.
Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso celebrated their long-awaited comeback days of our lives on March 17 as Bo and Hope, a duo that fans have obsessed over for nearly three decades. Unfortunately, Bo isn’t quite the same man who “died” in 2015.
“After being in cryogenics for so long, he’s on a journey to find out who he really is,” says Reckell. “A lot of people tell him who he is along the way, but he really needs to find out for himself. That is the essence of the journey that we will experience over the next few weeks.”
Bo was successfully brainwashed into believing his one true love is Stefano’s presumed dead daughter Megan Hathaway, it was revealed Friday. Elsewhere in the same building, Hope and John and Steve’s paths crossed in their joint quest to track down the madwoman.
The Hope-Bo-Megan Kerfuffle is a direct continuation of a storyline from Season 2 of days spin off Beyond Salemnow collides with the orpheus orchid saga of days correct. The original plan was for Bo and Hope to return in a third season of Beyond Salembut according to Alfonso, everything changed when the Powers That Be moved days from NBC to Peacock. (A third season of Beyond Salem has not been officially confirmed.)
“We couldn’t possibly leave the audience with that cliffhanger,” says Alfonso of Bo opening his eyes in the final moments Beyond SalemSeason two finale. “That would have been so unfair. That’s another reason why I decided to come back. We owe it to the fans and the show [executive producer] Ken Corday.”
The next few weeks will also witness the return of Steve Burton’s Harris Michaels, who was last seen seducing (and attempting to murder) Hope while under Megan’s control Beyond Salem. Despite her rocky start, Hope believes “there’s still good in Harris,” says Alfonso. (You can get a sneak peak at Harris’ return in the promo above.)
Whether this story could lead to a more permanent return for Bo and/or Hope, Reckell is optimistic about the characters’ future dayswhich was recently extended to Season 60.
“Obviously how and when they come back is still up in the air,” he says, “but I think our audience will kind of demand it.”
