County-by-county views of COVID-19 in Virginia; which areas saw the biggest spikes on Friday, August 12, 2022

RICHMOND, Va. — The health department reported 18,867 more people who tested positive for COVID-19 from the 65,536 PCR tests performed over the past week.

As of Friday’s update, 54,550 (+310 from the previous Friday) people had been hospitalized and 21,145 (+91) people had died as a result of COVID-19-related illnesses, according to updated data from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH ).
