
Boys golf teams Hillsdale Academy and Jonesville have continued to produce impressive results in their recent league jamborees. On Monday, May 8th, the Academy boys golf team traveled to Indiana to attend a SCAA jamboree hosted by Colon. The event took place at the Cedar Lake Golf Course. The Jonesville Comet Boys golf team heads to Marshall Golf Club for a Big 8 Jamboree hosted by Homer High School.
The Academy Boys golf team dominated again, taking home another League Jamboree win to extend their conference lead. The Colts won the event with a final score of 172. The next best team was Colon with a final score of 200.
Five stallions ended up in the top 10 of the individual ranking. Junior Rykert Frisinger took first place with a final score of 38. Sophomore Kahle Welden and Senior Conner Welden tied for third place with 44 points. Junior Ridley Fast finished the match in fifth place with a final score of 46. Eighth grader Lincoln Knirk tied for 10th place, shooting a 48.
One of the highlights of the game for Frisinger was a birdie on a par 4 hole six. The Colt also had four pars over nine holes. Kahle Welden had two pars on holes one and four. Conner Welden had a birdie on a par 4 hole four. He also had a par on hole six. Ridley Fast had two pars on consecutive holes. Then he parried hole eight. Lincoln Knirk had two pars on consecutive holes. Grayson Young had a final grade of 60.
The Will Carleton Academy team placed fourth at the jamboree. The Cougars were led by Will Thielen, who finished in 10th place with a final score of 48. Thielen had a par on hole eight. Tyler Slade had a final score of 51 and a par on hole four. Benjamin Lutz had a final score of 56. Julian Harman had a final score of 58. David Maier had a final score of 60. Hunter Fitton had a final score of 68.
The Colts will host the John Matthew Krutsch Memorial Invite on Friday, May 12th. The event will take place at the Medalist Golf Course in Marshall, Michigan. It will be an 18 hole event. The invitation starts at 9:00 am. Fans can track where their golfers will be starting through the MHSAA Golf App.
The Jonesville Comets added another second place finish to their league tally, finishing with 177 just short of Quincy’s final score of 174. Though the Orioles took home the team win, the Comets had an individual winner that day. Junior Zachary Mains finished the jamboree in first place with a final score of 42. He shared the top spot with Braylon Estlow of Quincy. Quincy Oriole golfers took third place. Comet teammates Carter Lucas and Carter Baker finished fifth with a final score of 44. Brennen Mains tied for ninth place with Union City’s Logan Mears.
One of the Mains match highlights was a par 4 on the third hole. He also had par on the last three holes of the jamboree. For Baker, a birdie on hole five on a par 3 was the biggest highlight of his match. Lucas had two pars on holes one and two and one par on hole five. Brennen Mains had pars on holes one and seven. Braden Stiverson had a final score of 52 and Collin Laney had a final score of 53.
Jonesville has three events on their current schedule for this week. Their next event will be a jamboree, held in Springport on Tuesday, May 9th. They will then travel to Concord Hills for another jamboree on Thursday, May 11th. They will then wrap up the week with an invite hosted by Hillsdale Academy on Friday May 12th.
