The College of DuPage College Theater is presenting The SpongeBob Musical July 7-17 at the Playhouse Theater.
Performances are Thursday through Sunday at 7:00 p.m. (no performance on Friday, July 15) and Sunday, July 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the McAninch Arts Center on the Glen Ellyn Campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward and all of Bikini Bottom face total annihilation – until a most unexpected hero rises to take the lead.
This goofy musical with a meaningful message is perfect for the whole family.
The cast includes Alexander Wisniewski (Wheaton), Chris Yee (Naperville), Tatiana Arias (Naperville), Frankie Brummel (Lisle), Luke Risch (St. Charles), Vinny Scano (Glendale Heights), Jackie Schiro (Villa Park), Chris Talia (Carol Stream), Nick Washington (Bolingbrook), Joahna Williams (Carol Stream), Jenna Jongsma (Woodridge), Leo Grabowski-Grant (Roselle), Brandon Luna (Carol Stream), Elmeka Elme (West Chicago), Jamie Foster ( Carol Stream), Maya Grzywinski (Medinah), Liam Karth (Geneva), Elise Lech (Warrenville), Emma Schmalz (Carol Stream) and Annie Wagner (Wheaton).
COD theater professor Amelia Barrett (Glen Ellyn) is directing, with stage management by Nathaniel Sojka (Lisle), musical direction by Dan Brennan (Wheaton) and choreography by Kyle Donahue (Geneva).
Based on the series by Stephen Hillenburg and the book by Kyle Jarrow, The SpongeBob Musical features original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry of Aerosmith, David Bowie, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros , The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, TI, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics were written by Jonathan Coulton, musical production by Tina Landau and additional music by Tom Kitt.
