Clippers Hawks Prediction, Selection, Watch

The Atlanta Hawks welcome the Los Angeles Clippers to a rare meeting in the ATL. It’s time to continue our NBA odds series with a Clippers Hawks prediction and pick.
The Clippers have won four straight games and pull off a massive blowout win over the San Antonio Spurs 138-100. They are now over .500 again with a (27-24) record that puts them 5th in the Western Conference. A win tonight and a loss for the New Orleans Pelicans would put them 4th in the conference.
As for the Hawks, they’re slowly figuring out what they’ve accomplished so far this season. Their record is (25-24), which puts them 8th in the hard-fought Eastern Conference and 9.5 games behind the Boston Celtics for first place. After losing back-to-back, the Hawks bounced back Wednesday night with a big win over the Oklahoma City Thunder 137-132.

Why the Clippers could cover the spread
The Clippers go into the race as favorites, but only by a point. This should be a close game as the Hawks are slightly better at home with a (13-10) record. When you talk about the Clippers, you always have to talk about the injuries that this team struggles with night after night. You never know who is suitable for each game, but for now it seems that this team is finally getting healthy. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are both healthy and therefore the team wins. Whenever these two are on the court together, the Clippers are one of the best teams out there. They combined for 62 points in the win, shooting a combined 24-35 from the field against SA.
George leads the team with 23.5 points per game and is consistently one of the best defensemen in the NBA averaging 1.5 steals. Kawhi is right behind him with an average of just over 20 per game and also has 1.2 steals per game on the season.
John Wall (stomach ache) and Robert Covington (personal reasons) are out for this game while Marcus Morris Sr. is doubtful with a bruised rib.
Why the Hawks could cover the spread
The Hawks are as healthy as can be right now and have nobody on injury reports. That’s where their best chance of getting back on track should be. With everyone available, it’s hard not to quickly find the identity of the team. Atlanta ranks 9th as a team, but Trae Young hasn’t played his best basketball this season despite his 27.1 points per game. Young only shoots 31% from beyond the arc, seriously hurting his numbers. He still manages to score 42% of the time, showing that his FG% is over 50% within the arc. He’s also second in the NBA with 9.9 assists per game.
Dejounte Murray is second on the team with an average of 20.9 points. He’s been hitting the rock well lately, scoring over 20 points in his last seven games. The team has four others averaging double digits, showing the threat they can pose any night. It is the defensive problems that prevent success in the first half of the season. The Hawks are 21st in points allowed at 116.5 per game, and that needs to improve if they want to climb the table in the East.
Final Clippers-Hawks prediction and selection
The Clippers are playing great basketball and should be covering a spot on the street.
