CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s tennis team lost 4-3 to Xavier on Sunday at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.

Cincinnati opened the action with a stellar performance in doubles, clinching the first point for the second time in their last three games. The Bearcats picked up speed with early leads in all three doubles before Xavier responded with a win in second. The top tandem in the second year Callie Flanagan and Redshirt Junior Cassie McLay claimed Court One 6-4 to move the decision to Court Three.

Red Shirt Junior Sofia Bruno and second graders Elizabeth Pendergast fought back to close a small deficit and secured a seven-point tiebreak in third place, 7-6 (5) to take the double.

Xavier won the match with wins in the top four individual places. Flanagan won in fifth-place in a tiebreaker in the third set 6-2 4-6 7-6(2) while Ferguson in sixth-place clinched a 6-1 4-6 6-4 win.

Cincinnati will be back in action on Wednesday, March 29th at 3:00pm ET when it hosts Northern Kentucky.
