Checo Pérez position and times at GP de Arabia Saudita F1 second practice classification

The second date of the Formula 1 calendar 2023 brings us to us the Saudi Arabian Grand Prixand right from the first day of practice in Jeddah, Red Bull showed their strength, while Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez took the top positions Fernando Alonso continues to get the best out of his Aston Martin.

Checo arrives in Jeddah as the king of street courses. This type of track layout suits the Mexican well and he clinched his first pole position in Saudi Arabia last year. In the first part of free practice he had an intense fight with Fernando Alonso as they traded with lower and lower lap times.

Both drivers traded the lead until Max Verstappen arrived to put an end to the proceedings. The Dutchman, who had stomach problems before the GP, showed up at the first practice sessions and immediately showed his power. The two-time world champion took pole while Pérez was just below. just four tenths behind his teammate. It’s worth noting that Pérez didn’t feel entirely comfortable in the second part of the session after reporting some minor issues over the radio. Even so, The #19 Red Bull car still looks impressive.

3rd place in the second session

For the second training session, the story was similar. Verstappen, Pérez and Alonso at the top of the pile. Checo was significantly closer to Max’s time, just two tenths off the two-time champion’s best time. at the end of the session, Pérez finished third with a time of 1:29.902. as Alonso weaved between the two Red Bulls.

For the second half of the session the riders focused on the race pace and Pérez looked strong once again, warning of what could happen on Sunday, although qualifying will play a key role.
