‘Blonde’ viewers are so disgusted with Netflix film that they tune out after 20 minutes

Blond Viewers shared their overwhelming disgust at the Marilyn Monroe film, with many saying they had to shut down after just 20 minutes.

Directed by Andrew Dominik, the Netflix film is based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates, a fictionalized account of Monroe’s traumatized life, and has previously seen Ana de Armas, who plays Monroe, who was nominated for an Oscar.

But while viewers agreed that de Armas’ performance was outstanding, they largely agreed on a different opinion – that the film is a must-see.

Dominik has detailed many of the most harrowing moments in the Hollywood star’s personal life, including victims of abuse, violence, rape and forced abortion.

Stream a lot of them Blondwhich was released on Netflix on Wednesday, felt the inclusion of a rape scene just 20 minutes into the nearly three-hour film was so redundant and offensive that they couldn’t continue watching.

One person tweeted: “Try to watch @Netflix Blond. Couldn’t stand more than about 20 minutes of the almost 3 hour length. Those 20 minutes were nothing but cruel and heartbreaking. Absolutely unmissable.”

Another added, “I’ve been watching blonde for 20 minutes and I’m getting sick.”

Another viewer agreed: “Not even 20 minutes into blonde and I’m about to turn it off. It is. Dreadful.”

Another viewer wrote: “Started Blond and turned it off in record time. Graphically depicting rape on screen is in no way a meaningful way of depicting the horrors of sexual assault. Please, I beg you, leave this woman alone and stop slapping SA survivors and women in the face.”

Viewers expressed their anger at director Dominik for the performance, with one person tweeting, “Just watching #Blond …it puts Norma/Marilyn in a box that only allows her to be abused, sexualized, or call people daddy. extremely strange. maybe we’ll stop letting misogynistic men try to make groundbreaking films about women they don’t know about.”

Another commented: “Can we all get a collective agreement to leave Marilyn Monroe alone from now on? She was hunted in life and now hunted in death. I really wanted to respect #Blond But honestly, apart from acting, I felt sick and unwell. Maybe I’m missing something #Netflix

Most viewers agreed that de Armas did an impressive job as Monroe, but felt let down by the film as a whole.

One viewer tweeted: “I’m watching #Blond and I have to say that I hope someone will check on Ana de Armas and make sure she’s okay. Marilyn was exploited and this film seems like just more of that.”

Another wrote: “I was watching #Blond. It’s one of the most misogynistic films I’ve ever seen. Not a film about misogyny, but a misogynistic film. I could weep for Ana de Armas – who was great – playing in such a hideous and exploitative mess. You and MM deserve so much better.”
