Blair Oaks Golf wins district title in Eagle Knoll

HARTSBURG — The Blair Oaks Falcons clinched their second district championship in three seasons, topping the team leaderboard in Monday’s Class 3 District 2 tournament at Eagle Knoll Golf Course.
Blair Oaks had four golfers finish in the top 20 individually, paving the way to a team score of 319. Hallsville finished second in the district with a 325, and Father Tolton – the defending champion – placed third with a 327.
The top two teams in each district will automatically qualify their top four golfers from the district tournament for the Class 3 State Championships taking place next Monday and Tuesday at the Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield.
Sam Kliethermes led the Falcons with a 4-over-76 and tied for third place out of 73 district golfers with St. Charles West’s Ian Hollander.
Dylan Bryan shot a 6-over-78 to finish seventh in a three-way tie, while Ryan Glavin finished 10th with an 8-over-80 to earn all district honors.
Chase Distler will be the Falcons’ fourth state qualifier, sharing 19th place, 13-85.
Blair Oaks’ Michael Atnip tied for 25th with an 88, four shots short of the state tournament cut line.
Blair Oaks and Hallsville will be two of the eight teams — along with Bishop LeBlond, Barstow, Eldon, Lockwood, Logan-Rogersville and McAuley Catholic — battling for a state title next week.
The Falcons will be aiming for their third straight state cup. Blair Oaks finished fourth in Class 3 last season and finished third in 2021.
The Southern Boone Eagles finished fifth on their home court with a 338 and qualified three people to the state tournament.
Levi Baumgartner, Trenton Hargis and Noah Wilde landed right on the cut line and each shot a 12-over-84 for the Eagles.
Blake Nichols rounded out Southern Boone’s team score with 86 and Will Hilgedick with 91.
The Fatima Comets finished 11th in the team standings with 394.
Simon Stuecken led the Comets in 36th place with a 92. Cooper Kleffner was next for Fatima with a 99, followed by Dawson Rademan (101), Nate Brandt (102), and Tyler Fortson (102).
Tolton’s Garrett McIntosh was the single district champion with a 1-over-73, edging out Hallsville’s Logan Cox in one shot.
