If there’s anything I could take away from the shooting avatar Film with Jim, is the openness of my horizon. My perspective has shifted. No doesn’t mean no to me. No means I have to work harder to work around a problem. You know, resilience. The example of leadership. Just being on set and watching him inspire everyone in his field to do their best, be they engineers or people in the art department. It was just a fantastic experience. And to see that when things aren’t where they should be, anything in the power of this team’s momentum will fix them.

And do everything to ensure that everything goes right. And then at the end of the day looking at that screen and seeing the loops of scenes extracted in that kind of not-yet-completely-complete footage. I realized that I was part of something extraordinary that had never been done before. And every day felt like this. And so I have to say, the experience of just being in a Jim Cameron film [LAUGH] was exceptional. There wasn’t a day that I wasn’t impressed by something new that I was learning.

The change of perspective and confidence from working on this film seems to be a powerful take-away for Michelle Rodriguez. She also spoke about the amazing experience of seeing avatar for the first time and what shines through is her pride not only in her work on the film but also in James Cameron’s realization of his vision. James Cameron’s Sci-Fi Fantasy is a visually stunning sci-fi fantasy that beautifully explores nature. Not only is Michelle proud of her part in creating this beautiful world, but also that Cameron was able to “quantify the unquantifiable.”

He pulled it off. Like a drop mic moment. Because for me it was all about how do you quantify the unquantifiable? things like love. Things like connecting with nature. things like beauty. I knew it the moment I saw Jim having a lengthy conversation about the fauna and their color. And that’s when I thought, okay, this guy isn’t going to settle down in any way, shape or form when it comes to translating the beauty.

Because in this beauty the love and connection to nature is quantified. And if he’s able to make that connection between beauty, Pandora, and nature, he’ll be able to make that connection with humans. You know? And when I saw the film, I thought drop the mic. He did it. [LAUGH] He fucking made it. Everything he wrote got on the screen. And I’m like, okay, now I get it. That’s why he’s so in love with detail.
