EA’s Apex Legends continues to perform well and the next season is set to begin soon. Season 16 of the battle royale game will bring the goods thanks to the long-awaited addition of a team deathmatch mode and more.

Officially dubbed Apex Legends: Revelry, Season 16 marks a departure of sorts for the free-to-play game, as it doesn’t add a new playable character. Instead, the Fourth Anniversary Season adds new modes and overhauls the existing Legends classes. This is perhaps the latest thing the game has done since its release.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Apex Legends season 16 patch notes, including the UK release date and start time, what it’s adding, and what it’s changing.

What’s new in the Apex Legends Season 16 patch notes?

There’s plenty of new content on the way to Apex Legends Season 16. Thanks to the patch notes, we know what will be added to the game and what will change. Team Deathmatch seems to be the main headline in the Revelry season.

Team Deathmatch is finally being added to Apex Legends! 6v6 mode has its own set of rules, which you can see below:

  • Two teams of six (allies and enemies)
  • Choose your loadout when you spawn
  • Swap your loadout or legend at respawn and between rounds
  • Your shield regenerates automatically
  • First team to 30 kills wins a round, first team to win two rounds wins the overall game
  • Airdrops land in the middle of the round with better weapons

Control and Gun Run are permanently in game as part of the game new mixtape playlist. This new playlist rotates between modes and maps every 15 minutes. For the first three weeks of the season, this will only feature Team Deathmatch, but after that Control and Gun Run modes will be added to the playlist. More new modes will be added in the long term, it has been claimed.

At launch, the new Anniversary Collection Event will also begin, along with the new Battle Pass, new Nemesis weapon, and login rewards.

A big change to the game as part of Season 16 is the revamped Legend classes. There is no new playable legend this season, instead the class system has been overhauled.

Now you’ll find five classes that represent the main playstyles: Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Controller, and Support. Each of the classes has its own gameplay advantage that adds more strategic elements to the game in all modes. The benefits for each class are as follows:

  • attack: Accesses “red” containers and can carry more ammo/stacks (secret compartments in weapon storage containers)
  • skirmishers: View care packages (can see what’s in care packages)
  • enlightenment: Survey Beacon (can use beacons to reveal enemy positions)
  • controller: Ring Console (can use Ring Consoles to determine the location of the next ring)
  • Support: Craft banners and access “blue” containers (can craft ally banners and access secret compartments in blue containers for better shield/health items)

Last but not least, the Imperial Guard Collection Event, the Sun Squad Collection Event and the Veiled Collection Event are coming later in the new season.

Apex Legends Season 16 patch notes are sure to include plenty of balance tweaks and minor gameplay tweaks as well. If you want to learn more about all of the above, check out the official new season blog post.
