That Apex Legends season 15 release date is on the horizon and it seems like it will bring with it a brand new legend, map, and heirloom. The Battle Royale game has continued to evolve as it adds more content each season. Loba’s Apex Legends Heirloom was supposed to arrive with Season 15, but we have confirmation that it’s going to the Beast of Prey Collectible Event instead. That means there are seven Legends that could get an heirloom in the next major update.
The final season of the year is usually the most exciting, as the previous three introduce a brand new map to the game. Judging by the datamined leaks we’ve seen, Season 15 looks set to continue that trend. Here’s everything we know so far about the final season, including who the next Legend is, where the new map is based, and more.
Expected release date of season 15
According to known leaker Tom HendersonThe 15th season of Apex Legends is called Eclipse and it starts on November 1st. Since this date coincides with the end of the Season 14 Battle Pass, it’s very likely that Season 15 will start around that time.
The name Eclipse might give us a clue as to what to expect from the current season. In Seer’s Apex Legends character trailer, the narrator begins the video by saying, “An ill omen casts a dark shadow upon Obis [Seer] Birth”, provoking images of a solar eclipse. This could indicate that Seer will be more involved with the game’s story, and the fact that he doesn’t have an heirloom yet gives more credence to this theory.
New legend from season 15 of Apex Legends
Considering the Eclipse name as well as the leaks that have been datamined, we think the new legend will be Catalyst. There are some leaks using this image created by artist Yang J, but it appears that this image is simply a placeholder piece to represent how the developers want the character to look. This Gothic-inspired witch might fall under the Eclipse theme as a darker, mysterious-looking legend.
Don’t forget that all of this information is subject to change, but for now here’s what we know about Catalyst’s abilities:
- Passive – Reinforce: Near ferrofluid structures, doors, and other legends, placeables will bolster their integrity and allow them to take significantly more damage.
- Tactical – Ferro Shot: On impact, the shot creates a ramp of hardened ferrofluid that can be extended with further shots. Can also be used to create platforms on walls (maximum of three structures).
- Ultimate – Iron Tower: Ferro-liquid rises from below, pushing you up while creating a tall solid column beneath you.
New map for season 15
The datamined leaks earlier in the year also contained information about the new map in Season 15: Divided Moon. Rumored to be set on the moon of Boreas, this also ties back into the Eclipse theme. The Apex Legends in-game comic book recently revealed Seer’s intentions to bring the Apex games to Boreas to boost the local economy.
Divided Moon combines structural elements from Olympus and Storm Point, although it’s unclear if those buildings will remain in the final version. The leaked footage of Divided Moon has unfinished textures on most of the map, as does the map overview, which is less detailed than usual.
