On Wednesday, Heard made her final statement, followed by testimonies from her close friend and sister, both of whom supported Heard’s allegations of abuse against Depp. May 19th is the 19th day of negotiations with closing arguments expected to take place sometime over the next week. The trial will not be broadcast on court television. The highly publicized and dramatic trial follows a 2018 op-ed published in The Washington Post by Amber Heard – Johnny Depp’s ex-wife – that detailed domestic violence in their marriage. After his reputation was damaged and professional job opportunities claimed to have been lost, Depp, 58, decided to file a defamation lawsuit against Heard, 36. During the first few weeks of the trial, Depp’s attorney, Camille Vasquez, drew attention to cross-examination issues and reckless conduct in the courtroom.
