Ackroyd is second after round one in the Low Country Intercollegiate in women’s golf
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – Senior Annabelle Ackroyd is tied for first place after the first round of Friday’s Low Country Intercollegiate, while the Elon University women’s golf team sits in second place. Wofford is hosting the tournament at the par-72, 6,009 yard Moss Creek Golf Club on Hilton Head Island, SC

The Phoenix is a shot away from the lead after posting a 24-over-par 312 on the opening round. UNC Asheville leads by 23 to 311. Three Elon players are in the top 15 individually.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Annabelle Ackroyd carded a 1-over-par round of 73 on Friday and shares the lead with UNC Asheville’s Madyson Gold. Ackroyd birdied the par 5 sixth hole to cancel out two bogeys. Her par 15 was the most in the field. The senior also ranks second in the field for both par-4 scoring average (4.10) and par-5 scoring average (5.00).
- With a 6 over par 78, Svarin Yuenyong is ninth after the opening round. Yuenyong screwed the par-5 11th hole.
- Apple Ngamwong is in 13th place after shooting a 7-over-par 79 on Friday. Ngamwong did not birdie but shares fifth place with Ackroyd on the par-3 scoring average (3.00). With 11 par, she also occupies sixth place in the field.
- student in the first year Ashley Lafontaine Birdie played the par-5 14th hole in her opening round of 82. She ties 39th and is second with Ackroyd on the par-5 average (5.00).
- Lotte Fuchs is also tied for 39th after Friday’s round when the junior made her only birdie on the par-5 14th hole.
- As a team, Elon ranks second in the field for both par 3 scoring average (3.15) and par 5 scoring average (5.25).
- Elon’s 51 par was the most in the field in the opening round.
