Corroborating rumors that the game will eventually be available on multiple platforms.
Valorant for consoles recently received a job posting from Riot Games. Valorant is rumored to be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the past. A compelling clue seems to be this recent listing.
Valorant first shipped in 2020 and has become one of the most famous serious FPS games. The mobile release of Valorant was confirmed by Riot Games last year. The format will reportedly be the same as the PC version. Additionally, this raised concerns about the game’s future portability to other consoles.
Datamined hints and previous job postings on Riot Games’ websites seemed to indicate Valorant was coming to consoles. However, players were given a hint of what to expect in their latest job posting for a game design manager for a console on Valorant.
The Game Design Manager is tasked with anticipating player needs across all relevant platforms and leading a team that develops combat for Valorant on consoles. The game design manager had to follow the same design principles for the PC version and bring it to consoles, although the job posting didn’t specify which platforms Valorant will be available on.
Meanwhile, players said they’d like to give Valorant a shot when it launches on consoles. Some people are skeptical, bringing up the aim assist debate among FPS players. Despite the fact that some people don’t think Valorant would do well on consoles, citing Counter-Strike: Take Global Offensive on Xbox for example.
When it comes to making games for different platforms, Riot Games has grown into a creative company. League of Legends, the company’s other big game, has a similarly successful mobile version: Rift Wild. It also has a number of spin-off games, such as Ruined King, a turn-based RPG: A League of Legends narrative, Project L, a fighting game, and an untitled
MMORPG. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Valorant will be released on multiple platforms as well.
While there is currently no information on whether Valorant will be available for crossplay, players will continue to raise concerns about the possibility that features like aim assist will cause issues for players. This topic has been discussed in the Overwatch and Apex Legends gaming communities.
It would be interesting to see how players would adapt to controller gameplay in a game like Valorant that requires mechanical skills. At the same time, developers could explore the possibility of making a separate Valorant game dedicated to the lore, as some fans are yet to find one.
Valorant is currently available for PC.
